It goes without saying that breast cancer is one of the most emotional forms of cancer for women, especially when it means removing a breast along with the cancerous lump that has been found. You can imagine why this is such a psychological issue. Many women fear the potential of getting breast cancer, and considering the circumstances we can certainly see why.
Getting breast cancer can be a psychological trauma, worse the fear can cause a worsened state. Fortunately the reality is that if breast cancer is caught early it is readily treatable and easily survivable. However, there are possible side effects of the treatment. Women who defeat breast cancer often find a new fervor for life and they deserve it as a testament of their will and strength of character.
Breast Cancer Surgery may very well cause a tightness sensation in the chest. There will be numbness obviously and it will cause the patient discomfort within the region of the operation. Most will experience swelling caused from fluid in the surrounding tissue. The scars from a mastectomy are not significant and modern surgery has come a long way.
There are really wonderful prosthetic devices that can be worn under the clothes so no one can tell after the surgery. After a year or so, the patient can opt for cosmetic surgery with a rebuilt breast. Although it may not match totally perfectly every time the woman will be back to normal and enjoy a renewed self-confidence.
